Yes, but bear it in mind that you have been offered a position, 3000 USD a month, ample holiday time, furnished apartment, transportation for free etc...
Plus you will have a chance to see the Arab World, and on top of all mentioned so far, you have been offered a job in the most beautiful and interesting city in KSA.
So it makes food for thought.

Very true balqis. If I had been told 6 years ago when I was just starting as a TEFL teacher in Thailand making $600 a month that I'd eventually get an offer like this, I would've been pretty excited. It's always nice to have some perspective. |

Some subs are busy because there's high turnover.

Sounds like a loophole in getting teachers on the cheap. |
This was my first thought. They are probably anticipating a few teachers breaking contract and heading home the first few weeks/months of the school year and have subs at a low price ready to fill in.
But I think it could also be a valuable learning experience for me. I was told in the interview that I would spend a lot of time observing other teachers. Since my long-term goal is to become certified teacher, I could learn from current -real- teachers |

Perhaps you might ask for a 1-year contract.
And then try to look around, while in KSA, and move somewhere else in KSA after you complete the contract?

You'll definitely have to go back to school for a relevant degree whether you plan to teach ESOL or a content area. |

What if I became a state-certified teacher through a program like TeacherReady or TeachNow? I know most international schools will accept it |

Yes, but there is an ad here today recruiting B.A. in Business teachers for a college in KSA. You can try it perhaps, as marketing is business.
Or you can do a year in the Jeddah school and then having a year experience in KSA move on and try to work as Business instructor in colleges which will grow and grow in KSA in years to come.
Why not?

But be awrae that the NOC/LONO may still be expected. No longer a "legal requirement" but may be an "administrative requirement" !
Moving to another employer within KSA is bot always so easy. |

Yes, so the poster may ask for a one-year contract only, he will work one year in Saudi, will complete his contract and then he may move on to a better position in KSA, obtaining a NOC from his employer, once his contract is over.
My point being: I know for a fact many people would be ready to perform rather bizarre antics to have their chance of landing in the Middle East, and this chance will never materialize for so many of them.
If I'm wrong, then do correct me.

That path will depend on 1) where you want to teach, and 2) your projected ROI relative to expected earnings.
As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, the better international schools worldwide would require your US teaching license be relevant to your degree major, and you'd very likely need to have a couple of years of US teaching experience (specific to your degree major). Having a BA in anything other than Education, English, Bilingual Education, TESOL... won't make the cut if you're eying top-paying English teaching positions. |

Aren't the TeacherReady and TeachNow programs mostly online programs?
If you haven't been told yet (or found out on your own), KSA and a few other Gulf countries will not accept documents obtained even partially online. Your SCHOOL (employer) may want to accept you, but govt. regulations will prevent you from obtaining the proper entry visas.
I assume your BA was not online. |

I was thinking also of enrolling in the TeacherReady online program. Has anyone gotten their Teacher Certification through it? I am also a bit weary of enrolling in it since it's an online program. The OP stated that some international schools would accept this, but the Saudi govt. wont, correct?

For international school jobs, try Teach Away, Seek Teachers, Footprints, and The International Educator, which will give you an idea of qualifications. By the way, the few Saudi int'l school postings I saw all pay less than university EFL jobs via a contracting company.
Consider resurrecting one of the following: |

$2,900 to teach in Saudi Arabia?
hahahahahaha
That's exactly what I'd do. Laugh loudly and walk away. |
