Money where mouth is, please. Prove us wrong! Most of us already have Celtas, Deltas, MATESOLs, and certs in YL EFL pedogogy. Why don't you? The cynical answer is because you lack ability. A touch unfair - so show us what you got.
You might then find that the nonsense is emanating only from your contributions... |

I predict that a Delta would be a massive step forward for you. But I do not think you'd have the capability of passing it. I'd imagine nobody else posting here would believe otherwise. |
I seriously doubt any random reader with a post-secondary education would care let alone care about this discussion at this point.
It sure seems like only I and your pals even bother to address your nonsensical posts at this point. Hic! |
Wonderful use of English there, by the way : ) |

Most of who? None of you work in SE Asia.
The point is that none of that is wanted here. Schools want university educated teachers- BA or BSc or higher, they want specialists, Math, Science, Early Childhood Educator.
This isn't Europe where all you guys teach adults so they can succeed in business.
The whole readership of this forum surely grasps that by now except you trolls.
At what point do you finally understand that giving advice on quals or any other aspect of working in a foreign country requires actual experience working in that country?
My God this is getting tedious and far beyond ridiculous.
How long do you intend to keep this up?
You are doing far more to damage the brand you are shilling than anyone fitting your insecurity, paranoia driven, fantasy antogonist role could ever hope to do.
Did I make a speling error? |

Even when posters with more extensive experience in Vietnam than you say essentially the same thing as everybody else posting here, you still insist on rejecting the notion of having qualifications with some substance to them.
And you then conveniently ignore what other Vietnam based posters have to say - indeed, that they have posted at all - and say nobody posting has any experience of Vietnam...
You are right - it is getting tedious. Perhaps you should change the record?

How weak. Who has more experience in VN than me? How much experience do I have here? Them? In SE Asia? I await your reply ignoring these questions. You are so sad and desperate to keep this going. You really hate people who teach children in SE Asia that much? My God man, get a grip. |

More extensive experience. Not just working for the kiddie farms that will accept online certs... That is most certainly not you. |

WHOA!
Try that tack on the schools that offer on site TEFL certs with a practicum before considering your employment with them.
Your ignorance of teaching in VN is approaching epic heights.
Hate much?
This is why this thread is so completely devoid of comment other than those shilling for CELTA.
Even the rawest newb on the ground here in VN knows how absolutely out to lunch a comment like this is.
That's why people who have never taught in the target country or region should never post about what's required to teach there.
This thread is entertaining if not completely devoid of pretty much any info for those wishing to teach in VN or SE Asia.
I'm going to bed now because I have a job. I have no time for your nonsensical, biased, demeaning misrepresentations of teaching English in SE Asia or VN.
But you go girl! LOL |

Noting that this is Friday/Saturday:
Very lucky that some of us get weekends and paid summer holiday off:-)
True, though, we've paid for it by taking something more reputable than a 2-week online multiple choice certificate, and thereby getting jobs that offer such benefits. |

As do I some years But I prefer to work to improve my trade rather than rest on my fantasy laurels.
As a Maths and Science teacher I don't need any other cert in VN. If you knew anything about working here you would know that.
The teachers who didn't go home for the summer and chose to work the summer program say hello.
They also say you are an inapropriate word for this forum.
We are enjoying this debate during our breaks.
You don't want to know. Seriously. None of you do. |

Please say hello back to your colleagues. And ask them how teaching science and maths prepares them for teaching English please. I mean if Celta is only for teaching adults and no good for kiddies, how do teaching skills designed for shared language contexts transfer to Vietnamese classrooms? |

You're right - I don't want to know. Seriously. None of us do. Maths and Science is not the purpose of Dave's. That is why it's called the ESL Café. That's why my thread (this one) discusses EFL/ESL qualifications.
Your many friends are certainly invited to join the debate (assuming they want to contribute to an EFL conversation). [/code] |

I don't work for schools that offer online scams. Lots of them about, but they usually employ other no-hopers. They wouldn't like, or get, someone such as myself - with real qualifications. |

The EFL quals neccessary teaching in SE Asia are a a bachelors degree in any subject, for VN you need an aditional teaching cert which can be an on-line, multiple choice TEFL or simply a degree in a non-English teaching subject.
If you had any knowledge of working here in VN you would know that. Fortunately I'm here to set you straight. |

Are you confusing visa requirements with the quals needed to do the job properly? Again?? |
