My girlfriend and I are leaving for Merida in two weeks. Okay, so it isnt "last" minute, but they are jitters! I was hoping the kind folks of this board would make sure I've got all my ducks in a row.

I have my:
Passport
Degree w/ apostille
transcript
birth certificate
proof I've taken TEFL classes
resume w/ ugly photo (sigh)
desire to teach Smile

But, what am I missing? (Besides charm, wit, and good grooming habits) Any help is appreciated greatly. Thanks!

try to get your birth certificate apostilled, if at all possible. If you live in or very near the state you were born in, do it in person. I was born in NY and was living in AZ just before I came here and it was a royal pain in the arse to get the apostille! It is not the end of the world if it is not apostilled but it should make getting the FM3 easier. Also, if you do not have the same name that is on your birth certificate, bring all documents showing the name change (proving that the BC is yours!) with you.

Have fun!

I live in Mrida and have done my papers here as well as gone through the process for a number of other people and never has the Migration office asked for one's birth certificate to be apostilled, so don't sweat it if you are unable to get it done before you leave.

You may also want to bring your driver's license. You never know when you might find yourself behind the wheel.

Last of all...take a deep breath! It's a wonderful town, despite the heat and humidity.

Merida's current weather report: Partly cloudy with isolated thunderstorms possible. Heat index near 110F. Current temperature: 97F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 30%.

I just got home from running errands downtown between morning and evening shifts at school. It wasn't quite as hot/sticky/humid-feeling as it is on many days, I think because there is a slight bit of air moving and some cloud cover. Most newcomers tend to adjust to the climate eventually, some more easily than others.
