did they teach or mostly do admin? And what percentage of the EFL teaching staff did they make up if they taught? |
I don't know the percentage, but Saudi women work as admin, staff, and faculty. Keep in mind that education and medicine are the main sectors that employ Saudi women. Anyway, during my time in KSA, three of my four coordinators were Saudi---two had relevant PhDs. My students attended classes in physics, statistics, calculus, etc. (in English), taught by Saudi professors with PhDs. |

Just to add to what was said at the start of this thread, I have received some kind of offer via parties about a job in SA, one which is Al Hassan. Suffice to say I'm confused and sceptical.
I emailed my c.v. and was contacted by someone at Interbusinessenglish with an attached job offer to sign. He also said I'd get something via DHL - this has never arrived. Now I've been contacted by someone at King Saud asking if I've contacted the Britannia office to process my visa ? No party has told me what the Britannia office is or where it is. Today an email from Al Hassan telling that I am in the process of acquiring a visa apparently.
All this without any kind of interview ?????
Why are so many parties involved as well > |

Britannia is a visa agency on Star Street in Paddington, London, which deals with Saudi visas, which includes the medical down on Harley Street.
Frankly, they charge £500 and I'm sure there are cheaper places around London, but GulfConnect (the recruiter I ultimately ended up going through alas) claim they are the cheapest in London...I don't believe that for a second. |

It's that time of year. Some lazy Saudi in HR slacked off and did nothing to find staff. This is normal. He got the job through his family. Now the school year is approaching and they need warm bodies. So this lazy Saudi just had an epiphany that God wants you to work for them, and no interview is required.
God is generous, but not always your Saudi boss.

Recruiter: Interbusinessenglish
Contractor/employer: Hussan
Location: KSU
Visa Agent: Britannia
All seems regular apart from the non-interview. Many employers use Britannia, unfortunately. |

|
|
| I am a current employee with AlHussan. I would highly recommend that you do not sign a contract with AlHussan. They are forcing single female teachers and male teachers to live in the same building which is completely against Saudi law. We have been told since April that the men would move out but it is now August and they've only moved in more male teachers. Female teachers are not allowed to use the ground floor rec area after the men come home which happens to be the same time the female teachers get home. This wouldn't be so bad but the teachers are not provided with TV or internet so there is pretty much nothing to do unless you go out and spend money. The HR person in charge of the teachers, Mr. Mohammed (Mod edit) does absolutely nothing to help any of the female teachers with anything. They are constantly told lies about getting wifi and having the roach infestation cleared away. He has also told the female teachers that it is company policy to hold their passports which is yet another lie. They also do not pay on time and will ignore your emails regarding anything and everything. It is common knowledge that it takes forever to get anything done in this country but AlHussan takes it to another level. If you want a constant headache in your life and enjoy being lied to, than sign with AlHussan, but there are much better companies in K.S.A. that treat their teachers better and actually care about their well being. |

Could you be more specific?
What would you like to know? I work for Al Hussan at the women's campus. |

Hi,
I wanted to know how the management are, but as you work in the womens campus am assuming it would be different.
Also wanted to know how new teachers are embeded in, do they land in KSA and the next day are expected to teach a class etc.
Thanks

That depends on the day you land in country (weekend vs weekday). But as others pointed out (and from my own experience), you'll be signing your contract, filling out other paperwork, and probably heading off for a short medical exam your first day "on the job" anyway.
You've been asking about jobs in KSA for nearly a year now. Have you actually applied with Al-Hussan? If you're interested in working with this company, get your CV off to them soon because the employment visa process can be long. Once you've been interviewed, you can always say no if the position doesn't sound like something you want to pursue further. (Frankly, I still think you should look at China for your first overseas TEFL job, but...) |

Perhaps you should clarify what happened in Al Hussan's accomodation a few months ago. From what I know (and this is confirmed), a female Al Hussan teacher was assaulted by the Al Hussan KSU head whilst she was signing some final exit papers. There was a disagreement over the final settlement, which lead to the incident.
Many people seem to have an issue with this certain individual. People thinking of joining Al Hussan should be made aware for their own safety and well being.

Hi NS,
I've already applied via Al-Hussan and have been made an offer which includes dependants (which was one of the reasons I waited out for so long).
I've started the visa process with them, sent all documents for attestation.
I am yet to get my medical done, which I'm looking to do sometime in May. The visa company have stated that I should wait for them to confirm everything has cleared before I apply for the ACRO check.
So at present I'm just playing the waiting game. |

| Sorry, I just wanted to ask another question. I read on another job offer that a one off furniture allowance is given to a candidate who is arriving for the first time in KSA, is this something that someone working for Al Hussan can apply for? |

| Furniture allowance... I would be happy to be given a pack of pens with this company. At least it will give you some experience in the Middle East. |
