Hi can anyone please give me some information about working at Phoenix International School near Guangzhou? The good, bad, and ugly. The most recent information I can find on the board when I searched is about a year old. Any more recent information would be very appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I work here and I like it. Your question is a bit vague, if theres anything in particular you want to know message me or whatever and I'll get back to you! Smile

The website is www.pcis.com/cn by the way, maybe that will be of assistance!

Pros:Good pay, nice new apartments with good aircon, IKEA furnishings, wifi, etc. Good working hours. Tend to teach one or two classes a day in the international section, the rest is office hours. Long lunch break (2.5 hours).

Amenities: Two new gyms to choose from. Good bars nearby, healthy social scene. Mixture of different ages to hang out with. Good local stuff - free shuttle buses, badminton and basketball courts, 5 a side soccer pitches (free), big AEON supermarket, good cheaper lcoal markets too obviously. Swimming pools...depends on what else you're in to!

Without going too off topic - Good western food if that's your bag - brunch restaurant on weekends (actual decent brek like eggs benedict etc)

Cons: It's about 45mins from city center (Tianhe) not the 20mins that are often rumored. This is a ten rmb bus. Used to be free for the foreign teachers, but the company that runs the buses stopped this last year. 10rmb ain't bad!

Shoot me a message for more specific things I've failed to mention!

btw, website is actually www.pcis.com.cn
