| Possessions enslave you. Californian Buddhism probably does not teach you that ! |

| The reason I'm asking about my clothes and books is that are not leaving/storing anything here in the US. Anything we don't bring gets disposed of, and I'll never see it again. So it's a big decision. For everything we own, it's either pay to bring it to KSA or say goodbye forever. |
It doesn't sound like you have all that much. Why not just rent a small storage unit (there are some that are as small as a closet) and store things like books and cold weather clothing that you will have no need for... these small units don't cost much. It would probably cost less than shipping it there and onwards when you leave.

All I need now is advice about how to ship for the stuff we want to keep. Reliable shipping companies, what to expect, UPS, standard postage: what's the best way?
Definitely not going to store, since we won't come back to the city we're in now. Will probably be in Japan after KSA. |

hmmm... seems like the wrong way around to me... but hey... if you are serious about Japan, bear in mind that you will probably have the tiniest dwelling you've ever lived in and that trimming down surplus now will stand you in good stead there. |

| The "normal" career path is Japan for the young EFLer and KSA for the aged. |

Shipping advice! Thank you!
Any ideas about whether a parcel company (UPS, DHL, FedEx) is better than a moving company? I contacted moving companies , but they seem to be for container levels of stuff. I don,t have that much. |

Sounds like the way to do it, from riches to riches. I took the impoverished to battle-scarred route - Latin America to Arab Spring/Revolution. |

If you don't have enough to fill a container, then go with a parcel shipping company. Problem solved. |
