Geez, then the 5 annual permits issued by Sharjah Police I have in my possession as a fond memory of my sojourn there were fakes!!
I should go to the main police station and complain to the major who authorized them to be issued and demand my annual fees be reminbursed!!!
Of course, maybe times have changed since my time. Alcohol was only ever available at the Wanderers in Sharjah. I bought my stash at the Barracuda or the Hole in the Wall, having my permit made me legal in Sharjah. |

I'm looking at dubbizle and a new studio with full facilities (pool, gym and such) can be had for 70,000 to 90,000 a year in Abu Dhabi:The Gate on Al Reem and a couple of buildings on Muroor near 19th Street (Al Saada). In fact, I pay less than 70,000 for a studio in Danat by the Holiday Inn.
The price of gas just went up, so depending on where work happens to be, a commute from Dubai could get to be expensive. |

I think a studio is ok for 1 but we have a house in Europe and the thought of moving to 1 room makes my blood pressure rise....oh and then paying 1000 quid a month for it. There's nothing on Reem as it's half built. The place I was looking at in Muroor was 95k for a 1 bed unfurnished. Half the places in the old part I wouldn't put my wife in quite frankly.
I work in the desert and have 3-day weekends. My commute would be once a week if I choose Dubai.

Are you working for one of the ADNOC OPCOs, Dragon?
When I was there a year or so ago, they wouldn't release housing allowance money unless you had proof of rental in Abu Dhabi only. Too many people renting and commuting in from Dubai and they wanted AD govt money to only support local AD rentals. |
