Does anyone know which other countries besides Korea require the apostille on documents? I'm considering all countries but wondering if I should even invest in the apostille on the background check or the apostilled diploma copy. I spent 3 years in Korea and my co-teacher wouldn't write an LOR, I was just given an "employment verification document." So, I doubt I'll be going back to Korea anyway.

Also, I need to apply in a country that would not require a background check from my 3 years in Korea because I do not plan on going through the nightmare of ordering that check from outside Korea. It took forever just to get the verification document.

Currently the only country in Asia that requires an apostille is Korea.

Most countries are now requiring a police check from home. Most do not require checks from 3rd countries (no way to determine that you were there or how long you were there for.

China is pretty easy to get into for anyone who as some experience in Asia already. Vietnam has a growing demand for EFL teachers who also have a degree and clean background check.
There are always jobs in Thailand but the pay is bottom barrel for most EFL jobs.
Indonesia is a bit stuffy to get legal in and Malaysia is its own can of worms.
Brunei pays well if you are NOT American. I am not sure if employment is possible there for an American teacher.
There are also the American protectorates in Oceania if you have some qualifications beyond a generic BA.

You will decide your destination and future on the basis of who requires an apostille ? What it not be better to use the I Ching, or consult the Voodoo Specialist ?

Suphanburi,
Thanks for the detailed answer! I really appreciate it. I guess I won't get the background checks apostilled if it's only required for Korea. That saves me some money.
