Yes. But it has not been very useful.

Aristotle posts frequently on Dave's ESL cafe although he has been banned from other, more discriminating message boards for expats living in Taiwan. He claims to head up some kind of foreigners' rights organization with the acronym SSETT and frequently issues hysterical warnings here on Dave's about life in Taiwan.

I'm just wondering how many eslcafe.com members are actually involved with this organization, and whether it has proved to be a useful resource.

Of course voting is anonymous, but if you're a member and have something to say about experience with Aristotle and his SSETT group, please share!

PLEASE: Let's not turn this thread into an Aristotle bash fest! If you don't have personal experience with him or SSETT, maybe just vote and leave the comments for those with first-hand experience with this group.

I'll join when I get back. If for nothing else, just for the dirt of it. Aristotle is nuts, but he has a good ear and I learn things from interpreting what he writes. He is the tragic historian of Taiwan. Useful, but unaware.

since voting is anonymous, couldn't they vote and just not say outright that they are members?

honestly, the only motivation i can see for being hush-hush about your membership is simply to not able to be held accountable for any repercussions of aristotle's statements or actions...

Are there any benefits to being a member? Are we privy to secret information regarding regional advisories? Are there any dues? Do we get a card with our name and picture on it? Is there a secret handshake? Seriously, though, what is the point? Tell us about some of the people you've helped, Aristotle, and let us see for ourselves how worthy your endeavor is. I'm sure you believe in what you do, but are you actually doing anything besides trying to scare people?

Compare results to this poll on another message board related entirely to living in Taiwan: http://forumosa.com/taiwan/viewtopic.php?t=20544
Aristotle was banned from that site, by the way.
