Hi
I've got a job offer but it does not include accommodation on arrival e.g. a hotel or whatever, to stay while they sort out the residence visa. Apparently it could take up to 10 days.
Is this standard practice or would you expect an employer to provide ? |

It would not surprise me if accommodation on arrival is the latest thing to be axed. In the past many employers would provide a few days up to a week or more. Does you employer provide furnished accommodations? In situations where my employer provided a furnished accommodation, there was no hotel stay. |

I've worked in several ME countries and have never paid out-of-pocket for my housing or for a temporary hotel stay. But if this is that UoW offer, then it shouldn't surprise you since they're not covering your accommodation for the duration of your contract.
That said, employers that generally recruit expats from abroad include employer-provided housing or an accommodation allowance as a benefit. They also cover a hotel stay upon arrival since it falls under accommodation. |
