Anyone taught for Dyncorp in Saudi recently? What's it like?

If you have to be in Qassim, a military base is probably not a bad idea. Living in an apartment in town would be no joke !

My friend who works for them has stayed there before and he has described the base to me. There is a section of it given over to westerners. Okay facilities like a gym, pool, basketball and tennis courts. And as someone with a family I will be given a 3 bedroom place. I think there are about 200 odd Westerners living there.

We shall see.

My wife is already talking with another woman on the base through her contacts. and she sent us some pictures.

I had a blast in Qassim, but it was only for two weeks. See if you can find the massage parlor. It's male to male, but I had an Indonesian who claimed to have a medical degree and he did wonders for a leg's tendon fatigue. Give a cheer for the military cadets that rig their Toyotas to back-fire to simulate gunfire as they enter commercial areas. Challenge the enclave of refugee Afghans to ignore any local imam subverting the royal family by forbidding local merchants from selling cigarettes. They're under the counter. No one should out-fundamentalize royalty. Qassim was vibrant. It was Berkeley.

Saudis do not use the term "imam". I never understood why. I never heard a Saudi use the word "Muezzin" either.

Getting back on topic, does Dyncorp recruit exclusively from the land of Brother Jonathan?

Although it is an American company, and they do recruit a lot of U.S. Army veterans, they do not recruit exclusively from the U.S.

They do not provide health care. Thought this is against Saudi law, but the recruiter said that DynCorp would not be offering health care and that it would be up to me to find a health care provider in-country.

Pay was pretty good....but Qassim is the pits. They would need to double their offer in order for me to spend time in that prison... err, I mean compound.

Is it not a government requirement that foreigners on contract should have health cover provided by the employer ?
