Have any of you more experienced here found some good ways to cut back on your budget in Taiwan, or some ways to get by on less?
I'm figuring I can get by on about NT400 a day(Minus rent and all.) This is just for food, transportation, and miscellaneous. I heard it's cheaper to get one of those MRT passes, but as for shopping, going out to eat and finding the best place to live, I'm still at a loss.
What I'm looking for are some tips, or ways to save more money while here. I heard overseas phone cards here are a good deal. I've also heard that used cell phones are pretty cheap.
Well anyway, just wonder if any of you know of how to make ends meet better here. |

Don't use a cell phone and eat like locals do. Walk or take the bus. Don't drink in bars. In general it's pretty easy to make ends meet here. How much are you getting paid? |

Hell yes! First you eat only in the local restaurants. Second, give up carbohydrates. Not only have I pared three inches off my waist, but I no longer waste money on snacks, since virtually all are carb in origin. Additionally, I eat less.
You can view movies in second run theatres -- check the Chinese papers or ask your students.
You can buy things off of people leaving, furniture, books, etc.
Buy a bike and quit taking taxis and the metro. Etc.
