Ok, to be totally clear, the four of us for 390 to Dammam, plus a taxi for 350 to Manama.

I recommend that train journey from Riyadh to Dammam.

Yeah, it's nice. Very clean modern trains. I've got a photo of my children and the driver at the front of the train in Dammam. The only issue I have with it is that on the new express ones your baggage size is limited.

I lived in Spain for 4 years and it was a breeze. You didn't lead your classes? Were you an auxiliar?

Yes I was an auxiliar. I found the food bland, found the place uninspiring, the job boring and the people to be rather closed. I've said my bit in other posts and otherwise I really don't like talking about it. Glad I went and got my masters; am sure that other people can enjoy it just fine. I hardly even like to think about it.

How so Scot? I am curious about working in KSA but I worry it may be stifling for my nine year old daughter. Can you tell us more? I am certainly curious about your view on why your daughter enjoyed it.

We lived (1996-2002) in Saudia City in Jeddah and the Airline paid the school fees for my daughter to go to the American School. My daughter loved it and was unhappy when we left. I was getting near that magic Number 60 (Hegira) and had to look for another place to sell my labour !

I went to KFUPM (2003-2011) where the education allowance was much less generous. As a result, we decided that the family should stay at home while I toiled away to support them.

Yes, I am in KSA.

Work is stressful. Students are unmotivated and lazy compared to even the most obstinate Japanese or Vietnamese student. My city is dirty and not particularly scenic, but the salary is high, allows me more mobility and life itself is terribly minimalistic but I find myself enjoying it much more than Spain in that I don't feel like I'm shut out from things due to a lack of cash.

And, pardon me for being direct, why do you seem so keen to follow my posts around?
