What do you think about the security of posting your CV on the net? I'm applying for teaching jobs prospectively all over Asia at the moment. Some people don't like attachments and it's also a pain in the *#%* to attach all that stuff on my aged computer. I've seen quite a few of these on the net. They can look pretty good...but is it safe??? I'm quite attached to my identity and don't want to find it stolen and some other 'dharmachicken' taking money out of my dwindling bank account, etc.

I'm definitely no expert, but here's my take on the question.

As long as you do not reveal sensitive information like your address, phone number, etc. in the body of the resume then your identity should be safe. Also I think you can control who sees your e-mail address. I know that there are some sites where they have a blind e-mail policy of if you want to reply to something somebody said then you click on "e-mail [username]" and the sender can get a message to you while you do not have to reveal your e-mail.

It shouldn't be a problem posting some onliners as long as you follow Varvian's advice. If you fancy signing up for a free webspace account with a small amount of space and turn your CV/Resume and attachments into HTML format (or flash if you're feeling brave) and stick them on the web. Then when you apply, just stick the web address on your signature.

www.geocities.com
www.lycos.com
www.freewebspace.com
www.doorhost.net <=very reliable but have to pay 20$ a year
www.shorturl.com <= Shortens your huge http://www.yourserversname.com/user/yourname/index.html URL to something like yourname.vze.com. Sweet!

There are thousands more, most are related to each other in some way, but it's a couple of hours fun for you.

Any Q's, PM me....

And you'd be honest and ethical and also advise why you left the last job too??

Thanks for the advice, although I don't understand the last posting. I'm pretty interested in this now so I'll give it a go. Cheers!
