I wonder if anyone can recommend decent short-term accomodation anywhere in the area roughly from Central to Kennedy Town or in-between. By short term I mean anything from a night or two up to a week or more. Not bottom-end prices but not high end either! Tks

Have you tried Airbnb?

Airbnb might work, but friend is looking for something more like a regular hotel for occasional one/two night stays on HK Island - a place he can return to and which would normally have availability, rather than booking a different place every time.

Try sites like Trip Advisor, Asia Rooms, and booking.com

Thanks. Call me lazy - but I was hoping for a recommendation! For instance, in TST I highly recommend the Salisbury YMCA - great location, great value by HK standards. But a bit pricey for what my friend is looking for - and the wrong side of the harbour.

Which is why he should be researching places himself since no one here knows his budget, personal tastes, desired amenities, travel dates, etc.

Why not have your "friend" ask questions in the forum? That would make a lot more sense than trying to help a third party who possesses limited knowledge.

Think about it.

Huh? No crankiness or any other emotion on my part --- just common sense. Your friend can use those travel sites to quickly find a place that ticks all his boxes versus days of hit-n-miss guessing from a few people on this forum who know zip about his budget, time frames, and personal preferences.

I stayed in a studio in Causeway Bay when I first arrived called Metro Metro.

Serviced apartments/studios at 13k a month. They let you add on a week or so at a time (having been there for a month already) so worth contacting to see if they can do it off the bat.
