Shakey,
actually I did that in 2014. I worked at a few universities.
But I only had 8 koma and no work on Friday.
Being anonymous is not always easy but some co-workers were good.

Thanks to networking I have a lead on a university in Tokyo.
People quit at the last minute. It is all about timing.
Tomorrow I will apply to a senmon gakko.
I am looking into business English too.
Business English is tough in that the work can be from 5-8 p.m.

I can relate. I am finishing a year at a horrible JHS. JTEs that do not communicate with the ALTs at all (before/during lessons), late/wrong schedules and sometimes hostility towards the ALTs.

The year is almost over and I recently was offered a lecturer position at a local university. So I just have to wait a few weeks and this all be over.

I didn't know the transition back to high school was going to be so tough.
I don't want to be told what to do anymore, so I guess university or part-time work is better for me.

Japanese too often have to manage things and want the gaijin to be in a subservient role. Once you get older, have a MA and are certified, it gets annoying.
Especially after being here so many years, yet teachers get all treated like they are fresh off the boat. No wonder younger teachers are preferred - they put up with it!

Plus at my school, pay is going to be cut, so of course they want someone younger. Then I heard the principal wants to hire two female teachers for next year, which means a couple of male teachers will have to leave (there is the five year limit).

@mitsui- Are you about done with the rant?

Proof again that no one is harder on gaijin moreso than other gaijin.

Translation: Man up. Get in line. Take a seat. Deal with it.

No, no. Translation: Don't wallow it it.
It's good to share this stuff and find some sympathy and get some perspective and advice from others on these forums, but I'm just saying be careful it does not ending up reinforcing all the negative feelings that are already boiling inside.
Sounds like mitsui is making the right call and getting out of a rather unpleasant gig. I'm just hoping all this discussion is making him feel better and not angrier.
