With all the negative crap about teachers getting screwed and deported, I just want to say that although I did get cheated by my first gig, my last two were great. I worked at Mayflower Education next to Zhongguancun Primary School in Wudaokou (Beijing) and got paid 15,000 a month plus my z visa and there were no games, stress, or last minute schedule changes. The principal was strict but left us all alone if we were on time and did our lesson plans. I taught less than 24 hours a week.

Another good one that paid just a tiny bit less was located next to Peking University called Hopen and run by a bi-lingual Christian lady who even used to bake cookies for us. She rarely had openings because the expat teachers rarely left!

Muffys used to be the best kindergarten in Beijing but went down the toilet after the Chinese bought out the Canadian owners. I think Sweet Pea, right across the street may now be the best paying kindergarten in China.
The big chains like EF and Pearson are usually safe but they squeeze every last possible teaching hour out of you for crap wages. What good schools do you guys reccommend?

Actually they gave me an apartment and I tutored on my two days off for only 4 hours a day and earned over 24,000 a month, net about 18,000 after tax. I also got a cafeteria card from PKU which saved me about 600 a month on meal costs. There are probably even better places to work but look at all the garbage jobs being peddled online for 5,000 to 8,000 a month salary!
