I think we all know Saudi well enough to know what "a transfer of skills" really means. We are not talking about education here, boarding ones mind or asking questions. Lectures will be given by foreign professors with Saudi mediators who spoon feed the answers to the candidates. The foreign universities get paid to have their name splashed on documents; Saudi teachers get jobs as "skills transferrers" and the students get the grades given to them and possibly the answers, which they can memorize by rote and transfer to the exam papers. What's not to like? |

That's highly doubtful given the high number of Saudis studying abroad. These universities already have Saudi students attending in the US, UK, etc., and are experienced with Saudi learners. Besides, the students accepted into foreign-run universities in KSA will be those who finished at the top of their high school or baccalaureate programs as opposed to the typical mediocre learner.
Anyway, this proposal would likely mean these universities would have their own EAP programs to get these students ready for academic studies in English. |
