Hi folks.... Can anyone recommend a good Japanese travel agency that caters to the expat community? Web links or phone numbers would be most appreciated.

Currently, from another Japan forum, I gleaned: No.1 Travel.com (www.no1-travel.com) but I would like to compare their services/prices a little bit if I can.

Thanks everyone!

JD

(My wife wants to buy a plane ticket for her friend who lives in Korea to come for a visit -- she'd be leaving Seoul & arriving in Narita in September)...

I'm flying with HIS travel (search for "his travel" on google).

Is it actually possibel to buy tickets for a third party? Especially when that third party is in a different country? I've known at least one travel agent to refuse that kind of transaction.

usually I use No1 travel, but I tried Air 1 Travel and got a good price for a flight to New York on Air Canada.
Air 1 is in Shinjuku and their phone number is 03-5919-0199

for December I got a good price with No1 Travel on JAL to Hawaii - for 85,000 yen. I was surprised that JAL had the cheapest, direct flight.

I've been using the same guy at HIS for the last 7 years and he's always been good. I'm not sure where you are but if you want to call an HIS office and be sure of someone with EXCELLENT English call mine in Hiroshima.

The number is 0822224591. Ask for Koji Hayashi.

I've called poor old Koji somewhere close to a million times lately booking lots of travel and he's been great.

Yes, HIS and No 1 are the same company.

Try STA too, I flew with them to Bali last year for a smoking deal (no pun intended).

I always booked with IACE Travel in Umeda and they are great. They had the best prices and they speak good English.
They arrange everything by phone and send your tickets to the airport.

You may want to check with IACE Travel in addition to the others. I'm in the process of arranging a trip to Japan with their Washington, DC office and they have been great. The web site for the Japanese office is http://www.iace.co.jp/english/
