Greetings,
Is there anywhere in particular to look for teaching gigs that are specifically around three of four months? Any companies or countries where this would be more likely?
Appreciated. |

That would depend on where you are from but typically, if a visa is involved you'll find that 1 year is the only real choice. Employers are not likely to go through the trouble of obtaining a visa for a short stay (1/2 term) EFL teacher. They are certainly not going to cover airfare and/or housing for short timers.
Exceptions to finding short time work might be places like language academies in Europe (if you are from the UK)
or
Latin America for those from the US/Canada.
For Aussies and Kiwis then SE Asia is about as close as you'll get. Fly in and hit the pavement with your resume in hand.
They won't be "contracts" as such (no visa, permits, benefits) but you will find work and the length of time won't matter. It'll be a case of being in the right place at the right time.

Westgate Corporation in Japan spring to mind.
The British Council occasionally have short term gigs in places like HK and Vietnam.
There are plenty of summer schools in the UK (and possibly other places).
Do a search, it's been discussed loads of times on here before. |

Panama is doable for 3-4 months. Lots of classes here last 6-8 weeks. |

Try Myanmar, the schools sign three months contracts with the public schools there so often need teachers for just three month stints. |

Your chances of being ripped off increase with these temporary jobs. From the less trustworthy tefl employers.
Be wary of people who say things like "oh, just come to xx country, don't worry about the visas, everything will be okay " |

The world really needs more of these short contracts. Aside from Westgate corporation in Japan, I don't really know of any. There used to be a three month program in FSU Georgia, but I think it has been nixed.
From what I understand, many countries in Latin America don't have contracts or work visas, so you just do things month by month. You could then leave whenever you wanted to. |

That would put TEFL back into the transient/backpacker category, which employers seem to no longer want; it makes sense to fill temporary positions with a qualified local or resident expat than to fuss with bringing job applicants from outside the country. The exception would be those separate English summer programs, wherever they exist, and if the timing works out. |

I've recently seen few ads for Colombia and Vietnam. Don't ask where, I regularly check dozens of websites/Facebook groups with ads |
