I agree. And it's not only the dearth of jobs that is a problem but the fact the the few good jobs that are there are already gone before they are advertised. Most employers these days want to hire people they know to be trustworthy and reliable so they simply hire someone who has been working for them on summer school or an insessional. Outsiders don't have a chance. It really is a case of not what you know but WHO you know these days. |

| I'm also hearing reports of schools experiencing a downturn due to fear of terrorist attack, with teachers refusing to allow pupils to visit areas they consider to be dangerous e.g. major London sights. Time will tell as to whether this is just a post-Brussels blip or if it will affect summer trade. |

This is not true, there is no such dangerous areas in London.
It seems you are listening to Trump who said that some areas in London are no-go areas!  |

Why do you say this with such authority? Britain's terrorist warning is still at SEVERE and ISIS have threatened attacks on London so it would be sensible for teachers to proceed with caution. Parents too are probably concerned and may cancel or send their little darlings to other places perceived as being less dangerous. |

The current UK threat of international terrorism is currently classed as severe, meaning an attack is highly likely.
However, UK's long experience in dealing with terrorist threats and relatively restrictive gun laws among other factors, provide some protection. Procuring automatic and other firearms in the UK is much harder than in Belgium or France. The UK also has stricter border controls because it is outside Europe's Schengen free travel zone and thus checks the passports of everyone who arrives. |

| Being outside the Schengen zone won't make a terrorist attack in the UK less likely. Most of the terrorists are like the recent attacks in Paris and Brussels born in Europe in any case and the last time I checked the mass murderers who blew up the London underground in 2005 made their explosives out of readily available household chemicals. |

What a laugh. I'm in central London every two or three weeks now. Let's all stay at home and be scared. You're about 10 million times more likely to be killed by a bus driven by a Daily Mail reader than a terrorist attack. |

I guess the probability is higher if the bus is a double decker one.
