There is a small company with two branches, one in Ise, and another in Matsusaka. It's called G.E.S., and they often have vacancies. It's no frills eikaiwa. I think there are a fair number of kids' classes.
I did a four month bit with Nova last summer. I was looking for a place near Ise, and ended up in Yokkaichi. That's always an option. They've got schools all over the place, and there're always vacancies. |

Hahaha,
I used to work there. I am considering going back, but I'd rather do something different. But I'd definitely consider a short-term contract. Plus I don't yet know if they've positions available.
I've got my ear to the ground there, a few friends asking around. I think something wll come up in time.

If you worked there any time in the last five years, did you ever go to one of Hideki and Jessica's parties? |

No, I've only met them once. But I spoke with Jess the other day when I was calling around looking for jobs. She gave me some tips, she's great. I believe we lived in the same apartment, the shithole that it was.

They're both fantastic people. I actually worked with Hideki for a few months while he was still with GEOS.
By the way, one of the high schools in Ise is called Kogakan. I heard through my in-laws that they hire their own ALTs. That might be an intersting thing to pursue. |

So far have picked up a 3-hour paid trial lesson and an interview, plus I I've got another person who doesn't have anything immediate but wants to meet me anyhow. I think the lady has set up intro lessons for three classes and will hire me maybe if they like me. Two ladies classes following a kids class, should be easy. I don't know if either of the interviews will lead to full time work, but three part time jobs would work fine, plus a few private lessons here and there. I may need a scooter too, but will be tight on cash with the moving and apartment costs. See what happens.
Have at least 3 friends in the industry keeping an eye out for me, and am also looking for short term accommodation, like 1-2 months extendable. Should find out tomorrow availability for one place, through one of the friends.

Short-term extendable sounds like a Leo Palace to me. I stayed in one last summer, and was quite satisfied.
Do you have an interest in SHS/JHS work? That's something that I think I'm going to pursue when I go back. And I will be going back; I've got in-laws in the area. |

May have just picked up a wedding minister position too, meeting the lady on Monday. Things seem to be falling into place quite well
Still have to get a haircut before I go though
Do you know Mike? Didn't he use to do the weddings in Ise? And he is a complete athiest, standing there reading the bible to Japanese people who know stuff-all English but want a white wedding.
That'll be me, except I still fear god........
........sometimes anyhow
Anyhow, between three part-time spots and a few weddings and maybe privates on the side, should be a wealthy man by Christmas Well, I should be able to pay the rent anyhow, see how next week unfolds first.

Some dude from Peppy Kids has contacted me too now. Do you guys know anything about them? I think they have a place in Matsusaka. I'd rather not work with just kids but a full-time job would be reassuring.
Also, I have lined up an apartment near the station in Ise if I want it. Very small, but it's a month by month deal, so I can get out easy, and a refunadable deposit. Will probably take it unless one of the jobs is full time with established accom.

I know a Mike in the area. He's bald, married to a Japanese girl, and has tattoos. It could be the same guy...
I used to live a five-minute walk from Ise station. I worked at the GEOS across the street from the old Sanco building. You know, if you're looking for a full-time job teaching adults, you could talk to the manager there. I heard that GEOS is now recruiting within Japan. |
