What I find most disturbing in this and other threads slamming TTC and its organisation, is that people are full of criticisms about how e.g. management or certain colleagues behave, yet feel it is ok to openly discuss on a PUBLIC forum viewed by thousands of readers an individual's qualities, qualifications, even sexual preferences.

Whilst there is no love lost between myself and certain members of TTC, having had the misfortune to cross paths and be seriously stitched up by one of your beloved HoDs 4 years ago, I cannot believe the things I have read here.

And perhaps I might be so bold as to suggest that GIZ may no longer feel it wishes to be associated with the attitude, behaviour and general atmosphere which one gets some kind of idea of from these discussions.

Please consider what you say about people and the consequences of such slanderous and unnecessary information!

Fortunately, it appears that the worst such thread has been removed since I last read it. But there are still others floating around if you take the time to look back through the forum. I do not have to be more specific.

Having been on the receiving end of similar backstabbing I am merely saying that careless blameshifiting and commenting can be extremely damaging. TTC employees across the board, from management to teaching staff, constantly show themselves to be unprofessional, irresponsible and inconsequential. Not all, but many.

My experience with TTC was on a social level. I saw, heard and experienced enough, and see for myself that even after 4 years nothing has improved, and perhaps the attitudes and activities of a certain proportion of people is beginning to catch up with the reputation of the organisation.

What I am saying is that perhaps GIZ's decision is based on many factors, not just the performance of the college in the marketplace. It is not appropriate to add fuel to the fire by apportioning the blame directly onto people's abilities as managers, HoDs, whatever, as seems to be the most popular practice on these threads.

No Place Like Home - In the 4th paragraph of your post you refer to "the decision of Giz."

The "decision" I believe did not belong to Giz, but to the College of Excellence. They chose to put the contract to run TTC out to tender. I understand that Giz were making plans for the future, and the decision of the CoE came rather out of the blue.

Giz's future plans included a change of name, maybe an effort to escape the past to which you refer. But alas that was abandoned too.

No Place Like Home,

I'm at a loss to know what to make.of your comments as they are contradictory in parts.

You say you were, "... seriously stitched up by one of your beloved HoDs..." so why the defending of so obviously bad and even inept management? You have apparently had first hand experience of this so why defend the TTC management?

I'm afraid you are making very little sense.

Balzac, you misunderstand.

I will repeat - "Having been on the receiving end of similar backstabbing I am merely saying that careless blameshifiting and commenting can be extremely damaging. TTC employees across the board, from management to teaching staff, constantly show themselves to be unprofessional, irresponsible and inconsequential. Not all, but many".

There are several threads like this one, full of direct or thinly disguised accusations, criticisms and specific examples of what people feel is wrong with the management in particular, whereas in reality there are many other people involved.

Clearly it is time to remove myself from the discussion before any further misunderstandings arise.

No Place Like Home, you misunderstand:

there has been widespread criticism of the upper management (Germans),
and the HoD and 3 team leaders who were in the English Department in 2015. They are still there, but 2 team leaders were demoted, I believe.

There has been nothing but praise for the other teachers and admin staff.

You were not there to witness what happened, but you have said that you yourself were a victim of backstabbing at the college 4 years ago.

I suspect many of the posters were themselves the victims of backstabbing by the aforementioned HoD and team leaders which took place in 2015.

So the posters are only expressing what they felt about the backstabbing they were victims of, just as you yourself must have felt when you were a victim.

Lord T - sure, fair point. Still, two wrongs don't make a right. I don't think a public forum viewed thousands of times is the place to hold such a discussion or make direct criticisms where individual people can be easily identified though, and this is the main point I wanted to make. This is not the only such thread, and others I read dealt with different situations even prior to what happened last year, so it seems the unrest dates back to earlier years and involves other people too. But, like I said, I am removing myself from the discussion forthwith Very Happy

No Place Like Home,

I confess I still don't understand where you are coming from but as you say, you are removing yourself from the discussion forthwith, so I will leave it there.

The latest on this topic I hear is that there is some good news for the many well qualified and hardworking staff members there.

Two providers are on a shortlist to take over from the inept Germans and rumour has it they are British providers. The College of Excellence has set up offices at the college to keep an eye on it as well and at least one Brit from the CoE is there too.

All will have to re-apply for their jobs so I fully expect those on GVV visas will finally be kicked out. That's a definite and final bye bye to a certain Baltic states gentleman on dodgy certificates and an American with a GVV for many years definitely out the door.

There's a few others light on certificates, lazy as hell, but heavy on TTC salaries and benefits who'll be seen for what they are: impostors draining the college dry. They'll be gone for sure, too.

All in all though, good news for many hardworking folks who deserve to keep their jobs

Thanks for the update Balzac - good news for the deserving.

Just a minor factual error to correct: Croatia is not a Baltic state.

Lord T,

my apologies. You are quite right. I meant to write Balkan. I hear the gentleman in question was fond of insisting his students called him Professor X although the closest he ever got to such a high exalted place in academia was the day he opened a Chinese fortune cookie! Sadly, just one of the many Walter Mitty type characters at that college whose time is thankfully drawing to a close.

The German management have taken a bashing on these threads, but there's enough blame to go around and be extended to the charlatans and bogus teachers who drew from the TVTC coffers over many years. Many of them have forgotten what it's like to do a hard day's work and are also largely responsible for the current state of the college.

Again, please don't shoot the messanger:
Quote:
Indeed, the Prof required his Mechanical Department class describe their last visit to Riyadh zoo. Using the Past Continuous. The Actor, who wouldn't be out of place in the movie "Catch me if you can", had his boys describe the (mouth-watering) production of potato crisps (Cause and Effect sequencing). The other teachers stuck to watered down IELTS materials frantically run off between lessons.

I hear the management has seen the light and the Prof has been relieved of his high office now and the replacement is a tennis and rugby playing S. African with REAL qualifications.

I guess that is a step in the right direction but is it enough and not too late? There is another coordinator still there with only a BA to his name ordering around master degree holders. How long will that continue I wonder?

Balzac - Maybe he will call it a day and retire to the Philippines with all his wealth?
