In that case, feel free to vote on my behalf in the Official ESL Cafe Brexit poll, John. Just be sure that Hod doesn't find out. Wink

Dear grahamb,

Thank you for the offer, but I wouldn't want to be party to voter fraud, such a gigantic problem here in the USA that Republicans have instituted all sorts of mandatory restrictions in order to wipe it out.

"A comprehensive investigation of voter impersonation finds 31 credible incidents out of one billion ballots cast"

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2014/08/06/a-comprehensive-investigation-of-voter-impersonation-finds-31-credible-incidents-out-of-one-billion-ballots-cast/

As is clearly evident, such malfeasance threatens the very fabric of out democratic republic, so those liberal idiots who are charging the guardians of democracy with "voter suppression" are obviously in the wrong. Very Happy

Regards,
Honest John

Do you have your legal team working on this calumny? How much are you going to sue him for?

Dear grahamb,

Alas, my secret identity has been exposed. Oh well, looking on the bright side, at least I can stop wearing those stupid glasses and phone booths were becoming impossible to find anymore, anyway. Very Happy

(By the way, the Lhasa Apso's name is Tenzing Norgay, but that's not the user-name he employs on Dave's)

Dear grahamb,

Here's another John Slattery (when asked if we're related, I say he's my younger, ugly brother - "Hi, I'm John, and this is my brother, John.") Actually we were both born in Boston MA, but I was first by 10 years. As far as I know, we're not related.

EU Referendum: Boris Johnson compares EU's aims to Hitler's

Boris Johnson has compared the EU's aims to Hitler's, saying both involved the intention to unify Europe under a single "authority".

The pro-Brexit Tory MP said both the Nazi leader and Napoleon had failed at unification and the EU was "an attempt to do this by different methods".

Shadow foreign secretary Hilary Benn, who backs Remain, said the comparison was "offensive and desperate".

Meanwhile, UKIP leader Nigel Farage has backed Mr Johnson to be the next PM.

Speaking of Hitler, Trump supports Brexit.

"About the course

The UK will hold a referendum on whether to stay in or to leave the European Union on 23 June 2016.

The EU can often be confusing and the UK’s relationship with the EU over the years has been complicated. This three-week course breaks down the key facts and guides you through the referendum.

We look at how the UK ended up having a referendum on EU membership. We then consider the campaign issues, public opinion and alternatives to being in the EU. After the vote, we reflect on what the result means for the UK and for the rest of Europe.

Join us as we explore one of the biggest decisions facing the UK in a generation.

Boris Johnson and his buddy Trump are about to reveal that they have inside information that the Klingons favour Brexit.

Forget about Boris and Trump, both are hallucinating! Very Happy

Now, back to the Brexit and its consequences:

About three Million people will be barred from voting on their own future?

"About three million people living in the UK are citizens of another EU country. Many have lived here for decades and count Britain as their home, but they can't vote in the referendum on whether to remain in the European Union. So what do they make of the vote?"

You have to draw the line somewhere.

Some expats who've long since left these shores want to vote. If you worked in a company but left years ago, you couldn't just come in and use the subsidised canteen, etc. That privilege left when you did. If you were a member of a golf club but let your membership lapse, nice to see you and all that but cheerio. Feel free to move abroad, pay no UK taxes and no doubt whinge about the UK weather, the chavs and the fat women. By all means have your cake and eat it, just not here on June 23.

In the interests of balance, however, my wife is a UK resident albeit with a Malaysian passport. She got her voting card yesterday. It seems commonwealth country people get the vote. When you consider the number of UK citizens from Pakistan, India, West Indies, etc, this makes for interesting voting.

---

I'm voting "stay" on the better the devil you know philosophy. Yes, it's nice to poo poo the EU with its bureaucrats, but just as things aren't so grim now, they won't improve with a Brexit either.

WW2, to die defeating the Nazis is honourable. A whole generation and more suffered as a result, but for us living now it was worth it. I always look back on that generation and think “WOW!”.

Brexit, to potentially screw up you and your family's future for the next generation, whilst idiots beyond your control, but on your payroll, negotiate new trade deals, is something you should think hard about on June 23. Not one person alive will be saying “WOW!” about you in 75 years.

Believe me, any excuse to increase prices on food, petrol, utilities, transport will be taken. Your "Leave" vote will still be funding these companies and their shareholders when David Cameron and his successor and his/her successors are old and grey and being paid millions for after dinner speeches.

But that’s just my opinion.

Grow up, vote however you want, but please think about it and look beyond the present.

I do not think British Asians and Back British will have any effect on the direction of the EU vote, their % is less than 10% of the UK population.

As I said before, the majority of the UK voters will vote for IN.
The British people love to take their holidays in Spain, France, Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, etc.
The British people do not like to lose the privilege of good holidays in Europe, and even some like to retire in Spain and France.
That's why the majority will vote for IN.

Well, Hod, now it is time for your generation to sacrifice and vote for IN for the future generation so that they will think "WOW" about your generation.

I am going to vote for IN, and my expectation is that at least 52% of the UK voter will vote for IN.

Even scotty, who is green from outside, and red from inside, will vote for IN. Laughing
