So I'm taking the plunge and making the move to HCM in June. I have a few random questions and would appreciate if any of you could chime in with any answers.

- My salary is 37 million give or take, I'm not that big of a drinker and I'm looking to get a one bed apartment by myself. Hoping to bank about 3-400 dollars a month is this viable?

- What is the best way to find an apartment? I heard craigslist is full of spammers just trying to rip off foreigners. How much would I be looking at for a decent one bed apartment, possibly in D7? Do apartments generally come furnished in Vietnam?

- What's the live music/electronic scene like out there? Are there many techno/ drum and bass nights on? How hard is it to pick up some cdj's out there? Heard electronics are expensive.

- Anyone train at Saigon sports club? Is it worth the money? Seems quite expensive but looks nice. Are the MMA classes beginner friendly?

- Are there many pick up soccer games on during the week? Think I'll be working some weekends so couldn't really commit to a team. Are the pitches generally astro turf/grass or those crappy dirt pitches that are everywhere in Korea.

- Could anyone gimme a brief lowdown on what it's like to work for ILA? Is it generally evening/ weekend work? Two full weekend days and then a few hours in the evening during the week, is this generally the case? Do you just come in and teach your 24 hours and go home? Can you lesson plan outside of the office? The sticky seems to be completely out of date.

- How far is the commute generally between districts? Would it be possible to work in D1 and live in D7 for example?

- Is it easy for westerners to get clothes there? Trying to organise what to pack. Is there anything in particular you would bring if you were leaving again?

Thanks for any answers.

If I may clarify,

You say your monthly salary is 37 Mill VND and you're asking about ILA.

I'm assuming you've already signed, or will sign, a full time contract with them.

In other words, have you been interviewed by ILA and subsequently, offered a position?

The numerous general country/city expat forums on the Net are usually the best resources and platforms for specific lifestyle/entertainment info because they hit a wider audience. Google ho chi minh city expat forum for links.

Yes, I worked or them but it was many years ago.

I don't have any current information on that organization now.
