My wife and I are headed abroad to teach in Vietnam initially. We are having our diplomas certified for this- as Vietnam is a non-apostille country. Since we are in the process of obtaining the certification, we are wondering if we shouldn't get an apostilled copy at the very same time to have in-hand should we decide to leave Vietnam at some point to move to another country which might be an apostille country. Obviously, there is a cost-benefit analysis factor, and also the question of whether we'll go elsewhere and where we might go. I guess we're wondering just how difficult apostilling is from abroad. If it requires a return to the US to obtain it, I'd lean towards taking it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I see the logic of your strategy. However, keep in mind that some countries have a different process for authenticating degrees. Additionally, depending on your teaching destination, you may have to be back in the US anyway in order to fulfill the requirements of the visa application process. |
