For male teachers recruited via Al Hussan, would anybody know if the accommodation provided to them comes;
1. fully furnished, with utilities covered
2. if you are given the option of having more then one bedroom if you intend to bring family over.
3. does the accommodation have wifi (half decent)
4. are the windows really tiny (this one, the wife wanted to ask)
Regards

Maybe your missus is worried that you might lock her in while you´re at work. We were told about a Saudi who was thinking of taking a villa on our compound but was disappointed that there was no way he could prevent the wife making an escape during the day. |

I don't know about Al-Hussan's housing, but many houses/flats in Saudi Arabia have small and often opaque windows that serve to 1) keep interiors cool during sweltering days, and 2) allow female occupants some privacy. (I was fortunate that my apartment in Jeddah had a big, American-style picture window, which my friends in Riyadh seemed to envy. ) |

| I'd be more concerned about why a partner was asking about details such as that; are they looking for an excuse to turn an offer down (the windows are too small, I'm not happy) or are expressing signs of anxiety? |

1) yes
2) unknown, families get larger apartments when they are available, I assume that means an extra bedroom but don't know for sure
3) decent is relative, you can live with it or buy a MiFi which is pretty imexpensive
4) not all apartments are the same, generally windows are tinted and much smaller than the UK |

Well when the partner is going to be spending much of her time inside the room, little things such windows which can help make the room feel more open does make a difference. But I see what you mean, we've already discussed the move which we are happy with. |

Maybe you should be more concerned with how your partner will feel comfortable, then. The logistics, rather than the the general mood. If I were to be given the option I wouldn't bring a wife over to the KSA, lots of men do the same and leave them at home. Unless my wife was also working here I'd seriously consider not bringing her here to do nothing in a culturally barren environment.
Just an alternative possibility, not trying to put you down or anything. |

That would be wife and child. Hopefully paul.conlong and his wife had a serious talk about some of the challenges she may face. If she's lucky, there will be other trailing spouses she can befriend. |
