Fukuoka.

I was only asking...

Very droll.......would almost have been funny except that the auto censor kept bleeping Fukuoka when this forum first opened so the joke is played....I can recommend Aso or Shizuoka Wink

The first city I thought of was Fukuoka. I've heard a lot of good things about it. I doubt it was the city your friend was telling you about, though. You would have remembered a name like that.
I saw an international ranking of the cities around the world with the highest standard of living. The highest-ranking city in Japan was Tokyo.
Sapporo is a modern city. It's laid out in an easy-to-use grid. I think they might even have street names, which are very scarce in Japan. I've heard that the buildings there actually have insulation. This would mean that you wouldn't freeze your ketsu off in winter, and you might not hear your neighbour every time he stuffs his hand into his bag of soy-puffs.
