Hey there guys,

I have a non-teaching work visa for my current training center company in Shanghai. I just signed a contract for a public school in Hangzhou, which requires a teaching work visa. I'm wondering if they can just process the new visa in Hangzhou. If not, maybe shoot over to Hong Kong to do the processing. Anyone have any ideas or experience on this peculiar situation?

Cheers,
Aaron

Hmm..I think one of the goals of the latest changes was to prevent this from occurring.

I think you would have to look at the rules for Hangzhou. I believe Hangzhou is stricter, so you would be required to go home or use a visa service.

It is stated that Hong Kong will no longer convert non-work visas to work visas. I wouldn't accept advice on your case either way as even the official policy for HK is considered confusing. A HK or Hangzhou based visa service might be best to contact.

For applicants not holding a current/recent non-work visa it seems mixed. Whether it is allowed or not appears up to the jurisdiction from where you will be applying.

Hello JimFellow,

Just to clarify, I do have a z working visa, but it's not as a (FEC) teaching work visa, rather, a non-teaching z visa, which is allocated to professionals working in China for other companies. Training Centers are notorious for applying for these types of visas, which is fine by me.

Cheers,

Aaron
