Ya think?
All you had to ask was whether they recruit for PNU, and if yes, apply. Regardless, they're not the employer/contracting company anyway, which is who you really should be contacting since they're the entity responsible for visas, salaries, benefits, yada yada. Get that email info from your "friend." |

I checked out their website it says they're recruiting for the June 30 in take. But I'm asking for this info for future reference. I don't wanna apply now because that would be pointless! |

Like this thread.
If you're not focused and are unwilling to be flexible, teaching and living in Saudi Arabia will be a challenge for you.
Good luck. |

What was it about the "wall" analogy that was so unclear? |

I'm trying to reach the biggest audience and this website has the highest amount of people. I'm not being inflexible- I went this route because last time I emailed the agency they wouldn't respond with details. As far as salary and that other info is concerned, I already have that info so I'm not looking for it. I'm looking for the info I asked for... Obvio! |

Then you should be aware that the kind of questions you're asking cannot be answered with any certainty. Here, nothing is written in stone......it's written in sand and you must know how treacherous that is.
Assuming you get lots of responses, it's almost a given that all of them will give you different information and advice. And, at the end of the day, you will find that none of them will be a reflection of what will happen in your particular case. Here, one size does not fit all. In fact, it can't.

I doubt that's what really happened. You didn't get the info you wanted because they themselves didn't have it. With the dissolution of once stalwart fiefdoms, hiring authorities (except in very few cases) have nearly been crippled and rendered helpless as far as taking hiring action except in the most critical vital areas.

Naaada, srta. Aquí no hay nada "obvio". Ya te dije que lo que buscas no lo vas a encontrar aquí. Pero buena suerte en todo caso. |

I'm not looking for certainty, I'm looking for "when do contracting agencies, like InAdvance, hire for PNU?" Their website says they're looking for ESL instructors (application deadline is 6/30) but I'm not looking to apply this year. As I said in my previous post, looking for future reference! Also, I've heard that they apply year round but my friend said they look for teachers for September, January and May. That's why I wanted to know when the semesters started...
In the past, I have emailed InAdvance asking when they hire (since they were the hiring agency) and they didn't bother responding because I wasn't applying!
Se dice "suerte" not "buena suerte" |

Well, you missed the whole point of my post (and several other posts too). Any answer you get to your question would most likely NOT be operational or valid in the future (whenever you decide to apply) because things change too quickly around here.
So if you were to get the answer: "We hire in May", that answer may be completely incorrect a year or so hence, let alone several years hence. (This is an easy concept to grasp....I'm surprised it's not clear to you).
Oh, and by the way: Check this out:
Pregunta: ¿Cuál de las dos formas (Suerte/ Buena Suerte) es más habitual?
Respuesta: Las dos por igual.
and many other similar responses. See:
http://forum.wordreference.com/threads/%C2%A1-buena-suerte.2772959/\
o sea: it depends where you come from (it also depends on your social status, but that's another issue). |

Again, your main problem is that you're either not focused or you're simply choosing to ignore what others have posted on this thread about visas, recruitment agencies, contracting companies, and hiring periods because it's not what you want to hear.
For starters, you still haven't accepted that InAdvance is just a recruitment agency operating in the UK and is not a Saudi employer/contracting company --- the latter is the entity responsible for staffing/HR decisions, visas, salaries, benefits, etc. Companies like SBC, QEHC, EdEx... sometimes do their own recruiting but often also use outside agencies such as Skyline, Prime Teachers, and InAdvance (all have recruited for companies contracted with PNU). In other words, the contracting company is the recruiting agency's client. Additionally, PNU and KSU rely on several contracting companies (and not just one) for their staffing needs.
That said, ask your alleged friend at PNU for the name of the contracting company that's stated on her resident ID card and pays her salary. (I guarantee it ain't gonna be British recruiter InAdvance in the UK.) You can email the company directly with your questions. Otherwise, once you decide you're actually ready and available to head to KSA, apply to whatever job ad is posted for PNU for whichever contracting company is seeking teachers at that time. However, don't expect the process, time frames, requirements, salaries, and so on, to reflect the current situation nor meet your wish list. Also, keep in mind, your online TEFL cert won't cut it. Ditto if you have a degree with online credits.
By the way, excluding summer, the first semester for the academic year starts in Aug/Sept, the second in Jan/Feb --- similar to the US. This is a no-brainer. |

Oh nomad, you can just write it if you believe that I'm creating a story about a "friend" lol but I'll ask her which company contracted her. I wasn't aware that InAdvance was just a recruiting agency! I'm well aware that my online cert isn't gonna cut it. My friend (and this site) informed me that a CELTA is must!
Regarding the "suerte" comment, I'm going with my family's advice on this one- not some website lol |
