Go on - live dangerously - take in some heroin as well. When they catch you tell them you thought it was Bicarbonate of Soda.
Does the Immigration Card for arrivals still say in Arabic and ENGLISH
PENALTY FOR IMPORTATION OF DRUGS IS DEATH

I doubt that gorkomi should be too concerned about taking hemp seeds to Saudi Arabia. When I lived in the Kingdom some years ago, I brought in with me hemp seeds as well as a variety of other seeds and nuts. I experienced no delay at customs. Nobody asked any questions about the contents of my bags.
I lived in a small town in an agricultural community and was delighted that there were shops which specialized in the selling of nuts and seeds. I was able to purchase not only hemp seeds, but hazelnuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, walnuts, almonds, pecans and all kinds of similar products.
The usual stereotypical notion of Saudi officials as ignorant and fanatical is largely a misplaced and biased view.
Nowadays most people know that there are wide differences between the extremely nutritious hemp seeds hearts, on the one hand, and what is usually referred to as marijuana, on the other hand. Very few people in positions of power are likely to confuse the two. Furthermore, if a mistake is made the situation can easily be clarified. |

Dear gorkomi,
As usual, you've now heard advice, pro and con, mostly based an anecdotal experience, about bringing the stuff in.
So, now it's your decision: proceed (perhaps) at your own risk.
Regards,
John |

DUBAI// An American tourist who was caught with 60 millilitres of Codeine and 76 grammes of poppy seeds has been sentenced to four years in jail.
The 28-year-old was found guilty of smuggling and possessing drugs for personal use by Dubai Criminal Court.
Prosecutors said that on April 14 this year he was arrested upon arrival at Dubai International airport after custom officers became suspicious of a bottle containing pink liquid in the his luggage. The tourist’s belongings were searched and two boxes were found containing poppy seeds. He was referred to the anti-narcotics department while the substances were sent to the criminal lab.
He will be deported after serving his prison term.
