Is it possible to bump up your earnings in China?
I currently live in Thailand and the wages aren't that great, but I can earn over 6,000 RMB a month doing extra lessons. Would that be possible in China? if it is, it could be an option for me. I am worried about the tax I would have to pay in China as the tax in Thailand is very small

Plenty of extra lessons are available in China. Many teachers earn around 150 - 200 rmb per hour ($23 - $30). I know of some people who earn more in extra lessons, outside their normal job. It depends how enterprising you are. If you have a good rapport and patience, you can do extra privates teaching kids, if that is your thing (it is not for everyone as Chinese kids, contrary to popular opinion - tend to be wild when they are young), especially males, in a group (but not one to one).
You don't need to be taxed if it is outside your main job, but discretion is better.
