What will I miss when I leave Mexico in 8 days (and counting)? What would you miss? I won't make it a poll because I'm sure most of you have many wonderful things you can add.

For me.

1. Torta de milanesa with looooads of quesillo.
2. Speaking in Spanish.
3. Being taller than most of the locals, although the current generation is catching me up.
4. Standing out in a crowd.
5. Moonraven's witty comments and amusing alternative viewpoint. Pure comedy, most of the time.

Of course point 5 I will be able to enjoy from the East, but somehow I fear it won't be the same.

Good luck Mixteca, sometime in the next week or so I will be flying from the Philippines to the US. Been enjoying a nice vacation over the last 5 weeks or so, nice and relaxing.

I'm off to Korea, comenius, taking Moonraven's advice to go and earn a better salary.

I hope to save up enough in a couple of years to open my own little business in Guatemala, I'll post here in 2007 when I need some teachers.

Greg, great to hear you're well, I was worried about your silence recently. All the best for your return to the US.

Gringo Greg, I would also like to add that it's good to see you back on the forum.

How do you lucky guys swing these long summer vacations? I'll be leaving for the USA this week for a short stay. I only get 3 weeks off for summer break, half of which is already history. Crying or Very sad

Mixtecamike, best of luck to you in your ventures/adventures. I plan to be retired or at least semi-retired by 2007, but I'd like to stop by and check out your school in Guatemala. Keep us informed of your progress, okay?

Good luck to you MM! Heres a very important phrase for you in Korean (from my military language training many many moons ago...) Ton i opso (I have no money!) I love Korean food.

If I leave Mexico (and its increasingly looking like Im here for the long haul) I will miss pollo rostizado (although Pollo Feliz has two outlets in Tucson Arizona) cheap tropical fruit/avocados and Cheetos that come with chile on them hee hee

Confused Crying or Very sad Sad

I've been gone from Mexico for 4 weeks now, and there's so much that I miss... *sigh*

But at the same time, there's so much to look forward to in my new country! Laughing

Good luck Mike, hope it all works out how you want..

Lozwich.

Having been gone for 6 or so days (the change of time and date still has me a bit confused) I have to say what I really miss is being able to talk to people.

Nobody I've met yet speaks Spanish and almost nobody speaks English, so simple things like asking for a cheapo hotel or how much a meal costs is damn difficult.

For the moment I just eat things with a price tag on them, LOL. I can read the signposts now, but only if I go very slowly.

What I'm NOT missing is the trash, the streets here are very clean compared to everywhere else I can remember visiting.
