My original cert is now 23 years old and has travelled as far and wide as myself....if not laminated a good few years ago it would have disintegrated by now. Who wants to keep pissing about ordering new copies at considerable expense-when they have the laminated original?

And given the amount of mostly male FAO's hands it had been through in China I could not have seen mine lasting so long after all that in HK. The mostly year round humid conditions in HK were another reason I had them laminated.

@ nomad soul:

AFAIK H.K, does not require docs to be attested as yet. I would do it for the KSA, but not for China and chinese salaries and having to endure chinese xenophobia. Had enough of that and a guy reaches an age where he thinks the cup is full, it is full.....and in my case with regards the chinese it is damn well overflowing full!!!

Oddly, that's the second time in this thread that you've bemoaned about China.

But this is the Saudi forum, and if you're interested in a TEFL job in the Kingdom, then what's stopping you from getting your degree properly attested? You'd most likely have to return to the UK anyway for your work visa. Plus, you're required to have a CELTA/equivalent 120-hour TEFL cert. But if these requirements aren't doable, then seriously consider other parts of the world where a degree isn't needed (e.g., Europe, Mexico and South America).

To answer your post in parts, if I may:

Fair enough, I'll try to keep that in the China boards.

I have told you, I am in Spain, and NOT the UK. So I would need any documents posting here. My uni is next to useless re: admin matters as mentioned before. Two weeks and counting since I was emailed back to and promised a letter confirming my TEFL, and a sealed copy of transcripts. Both have not materialized in post, not at all. So getting my degree attested, for financial, logistical reasons is an impossible headache. Therefore it will have to remain unattested....I don't have endless financial resources and free time to dedicate to resolving it, I hope that clarifies and I have spoken on this now. Thank you. Mexico and South America I could not consider, I do not like flying and hate long flights, and suffer with ear pain. Europe is a no go also due to low pay and long hours. So the mid east is a good compromise, and then possibly onto Asia or back to Europe after that.

Cheers again,
sp

I suspect that your degree attestation issues puts the Middle East out of the picture too.

VS, I have said I will try my utmost to complete the procedures for KSA if a good job is offered. If the laminated documents make it impossible then so be it.

Then you need to find out what the specific work visa process is for UK nationals. I suggest you get that info now so that you won't continue spinning your wheels in speculation. But generally, if you accept an offer for work in KSA, you may be required to return to the UK to complete your medical requirements. You'll also need an attested criminal background check and of course, both your degree and TEFL cert will need to be verified by the SACB in the UK via your university registrar.

Thanks, already done some looking into it. I understand a return to the UK will become necessary at some point. Looked up the SACB, thank you.
