|
|
Hi
Just wondering how easy it would be to just fly to the city you want to teach in, knock on some doors and pick up a teaching job. I want to be around Guangzhou area and not keen on the cold winters up north. I am qualified and have some experience. Spoken to few agencies and lot's of jobs up north but very few down south.
Cheers |

given any thought to the fact that it is now as difficult to get a visa to teach there as Saudi Arabia? Get caught on a business visa, if you can get one, and prison/deportation awaits.
Go with everything legal, or you might end up going home tail between your legs. |

I agree with you, too risky. Actually met more than one american who was sleeping rough in Kowloon Park or on top of Mirador Mansions or Mcdonalds in T.S.T. in HK, because they could not afford to return home, or had nothing to return to anyway. Some managed to get back to China, others just stayed in H.K. until they eked their way out elsewhere or ended up stuck there long term. |

Easy, but Guangdong province almost certainly won't allow you to process your work visa application in Hong Kong. Even Shanghai doesn't allow it for first-time applicants. You will need to fly back to your home country to apply. |

Hi Op,
If you are qualified
(to any degree) and have experience then there is absolutely no reason to go the route you are talking about. Apply from abroad, get your Z visa and paper work sorted out legally and then come over. The type of job that will hire you on the spot without the legal paperwork will pay next to nothing and probably have horrible working conditions, not to mention you will be in the country illegally and will have to always look over your shoulder. In addition, you will miss out on perks like having the cost of your flight reimbursed. Jobs are very plentiful for people with just a bachelors degree who are native speakers. If you are concerned about specific schools or locations tell that to the recruiters or contact the schools directly from abroad and just don't accept anything else. |

Can I get a Z visa from Korea? I am in Korea working and if I need to change to China, I don't want to fly all the way home to the UK and back to China again. Much cheaper to fly from Korea and just 1.5 hour flight to Beijing or shanghai. |

What is garbage? Some yankee cartoon character?
If you mean rubbish, then I ass-ure you it is not. Want to get arrested and deported, then work illegally on a business visa. Just don't belly-ache about it on here when you are afraid to "bend over" for the soap in a Chinese nick! |

yeh but if u got a business visa, then you're legally in China doing business so so long as you say you're on business you won't get nicked (If you get questioned ever that is). It's not Korea where you get grassed up for doing privates China isn't |

Chasing down illegal English teachers is not a priority for the Chinese police. In fact, I'm not sure if they have any priorities. |

Again, respectfully, thank you. |

Uh, no. They do raids on schools and training centers looking for bribes, because they know they're cash cows. They often don't have anything better to do, and if they can deport or extort money out of foreigners, then it's a double win for them. |

So you saying that the actual school employing you will give a policeman money? What they employ you for in the first place if they are going to shop you? |
