Back in June this year I signed a contract with a school in Guangdong province and I am still waiting to travel. I asked them to apply for Z Visa and my application has become bogged down in the Foreign Experts Bureau with the latter asking me to get my degrees notarised, authenticated, etc. All I know is an application is in the FEB system but I have not released my notarised documents because I want to be sure I'll get them back. It's been quite frustrating ...
Then in view of the delay I applied for a job with another school. Looks like they want to hire me and are talking about issuing a contract and asking me to come in on a tourist visa, pending processing a Z in Hong Korng
Can someone advise about what view Foreign Experts will take in another province if they receive an application from another school? Will it be of any interest to them? I understand the general legal principle of being bound by a contract but specifically would seek advice about how this is likely to unravel in the real world?
I don't especially want to welsh on a promise but I want to get moving and start earning. Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks |

I don't think that your new school will be able to initiate the z-visa process. The new supposed national system places a lock on the applicant when the first application is initiated.
So it sounds like you would be taking three risks: working on a tourist visa, assuming that the second school is in a jurisdiction which presently allows z-visa to be processed in HK, being locked out from a second z-visa application.
I would be frustrated too... |

Many thanks Jim I'd rather be frustrated than illegal! |

Can't you just send them copies of the documents for the purposes of getting the Z visa and then bring the originals with you and hand them over when you arrive? That's the standard procedure for degree certificates, passports etc anyway. |
