Yeah, they only hire PhDs. Even the Chinese teaching assistants have masters degrees from overseas universities. As for the location, it's in very southern mainland China Wink

What area is your Pd.D in? What is the topic of your dissertation ?

Just curious. Did your employers ask for a copy of your dissertation?

I'm not interested in your motivations, transparent as they are. Wink As for me, I'm teaching English as a second language in China. As far as I know, Dave allows ESL teachers to post here, given the "ESL" bit in Dave's ESLcafe.

My PhD is in Policy Studies, but has a cross-disciplinary focus, bridging education, intelligence theory, Futures Studies and philosophy of science. They didn't ask for my thesis, merely confirmation from the dept. of foreign affairs in Australia. I'm perfectly open about who I am and what I do outside ESL. I've been knocked back from many academic jobs because of my generalist focus. In this case, they liked it. Very Happy

I teach English as a second language. I have an undergraduate degree in English and History, dip ed in the same subjects, CELTA, been Academic Director and DOS for international programmes. It's amazing what happens when you work hard and try to learn things with every new position. Wink
