Hi All,

Can anyone suggest some good audio resources for phone calls and everyday conversations people make with the community (doctor, phone company, etc.) in American English? I also specifically want audio of people speaking in a very familiar conversational tone with common expressions. Any suggestions would be helpful. Most of what I find is quite scripted and not natural.

Thanks!

Holly

All the stuff I came across was scripted and sounded totally fake.

Have you tried Googling for e.g. 'corpus spoken American English'? Here are two related hits from just the first page of results:

Testing prompts tend to be more authentic than instructional exemplars, but far more brief.

There's an old book called 'Work Place.'

Buy it and your life will be easy.

It's for people who want to live in America. (immigrants)
