Has anybody heard of or used this recruiting agency before? I've been contacted by them and would just like to know if anyone has any info, I've not been able to find much although in the world of TEFL no news is usually good news..
Thanks |

I do not have firsthand experience with them (and that is probably the most important bit of info in this post), but assuming this is the same Ray English, I have two colleagues who have associated with this outfit and both issued stern warnings against dealing with them/him. The man in charge, whose simple name I cannot remember (but I think it was one of those Richard Paul two first names kind of names), was referred to by several unpleasant monikers.
I did not probe for details so don't take this post as any more than what it is - a vague post made by a total stranger who says two of his colleagues issued vague warnings recommending this outfit, and more specifically the man who runs it, be avoided. |

I used this agency to get a job at a Xi'an university. It was perfect for me and I'd use them again if I wanted to get back to Xi'an. No fees from the recruit go to the agency and they simply place you with an employer - that's that.
The guy thessy's referring to, I know quite well and find him extremely helpful, down to earth and considerate of new teachers.

Stuart Allen is the recruiter at RAY English. I tried to work with him. We scheduled a Skype interview. He blew it off. I emailed him letting him know I would be in Xi'an for 4 days and to call me to schedule a meeting. He never called me. My gut feeling was that I was looking for a university job and he doesn't like to place people in those jobs or he's just a bad recruiter. |

I also used Ray English but found a job on my own. The contact there was a gentleman named Phil. He was very professional and helpful. Just before I found my own job, he emailed me to tell me he was no longer working with Ray English and that his colleague would contact me. Never heard from Ray English again. Perhaps Phil's colleague was Stuart Allen??? |

Ray English also recruits for EF. One thousand recruiters in China all offering the same jobs. Then when you go to the job the person at the school responsible will ask you what recruiter you used and then try to have you not mention that you are working at the school. COntracts will get doctored to save the school money. Endless tricks. |
