|
|
I checked with my visa agent today about the new RP/WP regulations and it seems like it'll be easy enough to renew mid-year.
She says all the normal documents are required (degree, ID photos, signed contract, money), with the exception that a copy of my degree will have to be stamped by the embassy of my country, and I'll need a police clearance.
Phoned the embassy - stamping can be done, fingerprinting can be done. Then I send off my fingerprints and the form to the coppers in my country.
This is the not so fun part - the coppers in my country take about 2-3 months to process a police clearance, depending on how lazy they are/if they're striking/if they lost the rubber stamp etc.
But since I have over four months to go, I'm good for time.
Getting a new maxi passport (48 pages) too. |

You are American right? I may be wrong, but I believe some veterans here have suggested expeditors who are able to get it done for you much quicker if need be.
You are requesting the maxi passport. They may not give all of if it to you. I sent in my filled up one a couple years back and they sent me one that was like 36 pages. I was thinking WTF? I know they go through your old passport and input all the travel information into their Big Brother database that had not already been collected through the scanning of my emails, social media accounts and JAV forum profiles. I figured that they considered me a person-pf-interest due to my extensive travels, including the Middle East. Sure a flag was raised and they thought it best to keep a closer eye on me by making sure the current passport was sent back sooner. God bless America for keeping us all safe!
I thought you wanted to flee Shanghai? I am happy for your news, but don't sound like that is getting you to your goal of the Philippines. |

It may be a good idea to confirm for sure that you need a police certificate. I recently went through the process of getting my RP transferred from Nanjing to Suzhou, and they only requested a signed letter stating I've committed no crimes since moving to China. |

African, of the Southern variety.
Our Home Affairs has no issue handing out maxi passports, and they don't check the old one. Nice and lax, African stylee.
Did plan to flee, might still. But could hang on for another year to build up financial resources.

No harm in getting one. It costs very little. |

Surprised you are not in Saudi like all the other South Africans. You do have the most charming women, and apparently a government who is not paranoid delusional.

This site also offers some good income ops mostly outside ESL. Nothing with a staggeringly high income, but could easily put together a couple thousand a month. I really see no need in waiting and suffering any longer. This is the irrational fear of the unknown creeping in. |

Definitely not interested in a desert posting. I lived in Israel for a year - it was awesome, when I was 18.
I prefer the East.
Thanks for that link, will look into it.
BTW there are 1000s of South Africans teaching in China and Taiwan (where I started out), on not particularly good packages. And some of them are of dubious quality. I stay away from them for the most part. Quite like my life free of foreign idiots, enough local idiots to bother me as it is. |
