SOP = Standard Operating Procedure

You have an excellent training program running with professionals who take the job seriously and get things done...you start chipping away at the benefits and you're left with the dregs.

This is right from the horse's mouth:

Work hours were originally: 6:30-12.

Now they are to 6:00-2:00 pm with very real designs on extending it to 3 pm.

From classes of 4-6 student-cadets to 10+ in small, congested rooms.

Paid holidays are going down in number next year.

International health insurance took a dive except for absolute emergency care being reimbursed (most likely at a %age comparable to Kingdom costs.

Latest cycle brought in student-cadets who had failed Book one (DLI) 5 times! They don't care..., etc.

NCO's for disciplinary purposes are never around.

Mass exodus is underway.

Let me remind travellers of the wise words of Virgil - "The descent into the Netherworld is easy......"

The challenge is to return in one piece with some of your sanity.

But these 'students' are often young men from the desert. That can make class management rather more challenging.

It was 10 +, the rooms don't accommodate that many and of course (as Lord T already pointed out) you've never taught (read as: force fed) this brand of student.

Failed book one five times!!!

When someone can't grasp; this is a pen, that is a pencil, after ten weeks, that's a serious problem, LOL

My experience has been that if they're not getting above 80 in the book quizzes from the beginning, there's no way they're going to get to book 12, or book 24, whatever the last book is.

Think you are the only one actually, because you're female, and have never taught these types of classes.

10+ annoyed loootenants for 8 hours a day in the same dusty, smelly room.

Shakespeare and Chaucer it ain't.

We get 16 to 17 but there's (just) enough room.

The point was:

One of the HUGE draws to Blue Force was the small groups of students.

You could actually do some edumacatin.' Alas, force-feeding operations have taken over.

And if the students don't make 80 or above on the test, what happens to the teachers??
