It would help people give you answers if you told us which documents exactly and which country you are coming from. Peoples experiences seem to vary from country to country and even state to state in the US.

				| Heya,
Proper pain in the bum, this one. Since you are in the UK, these will help.

This is a useful account of what to do when sorting out the z-visa, which I am also doing right now.

I am just about to get my docs back from these guys, whose service per document worked out cheaper for me than getting a notary to sign the copies, and then sending them to the Foreign and Commonwealth office yourself.

I will take my degree and teaching qual to the Chinese embassy next week to have them legalise them. if you are not near one, then the service above does offer a more pricey option of them doing the whole legalisation process for you from start to finish. I think it is £150 a doc.

 Good luck!

				| In the UK, I paid for the full package for my MA Applied Linguistics at this place: http://www.apostille.org.uk/china-attestation
The cost was £161 excluding tax.

It worked okay for me. Don't believe the 'fast service' hype though. There are Chinese holidays coming up at the beginning and end of May, so the Chinese embassy in London will be closed and nothing moves.

Then of course many of the Chinese universities are now recruiting for this coming year, so the demand for legalisation will increase, probably leading to more delays, especially in August and early September.

				| Okay so if you're in the UK the process goes like this
Step 1. Go to your local notary and get your degree authenticated https://www.thenotariessociety.org.uk

Step 2. Have your authenticated degree legalised by the UK government (https://www.gov.uk/get-document-legalised)

Step 3. Take your authenticated and legalised document to the Chinese embassy to have it legalised there for use in China. (http://www.chinese-embassy.org.uk/eng/lsfw/legalization/)

I am considering using this company to get my own MA legalised for China. How would you rate the service? Do they legalise the original certificate or produce a certified copy? Also, I've read on the the Chinese Embassy website that a passport has to be handed in whilst the document is being legalised, is this not the case with this method? I'm currently outside the UK so this isn't an option for me.

 Thanks in advance!
