To be honest that doesn't bother me at all. I'm not the person you asked but come on. Would you judge an entire population on the basis of one person?

My home country has brought me nothing but pain and misery. I'd be happy to see them suffer in any way possible. It's my hope that one day I'll be able to revoke my citizenship, but to do that I need to gain citizenship in another country first.

The Chinese do seem to generalize a lot. All Beijingers this... all Xinjiangers that....

The Chinese do seem to generalize a lot. All Beijingers this... all Xinjiangers that....


Yeah, I'm not doubting that. I did consider putting something like that in my first post, arguing that ignorance is their problem and one lonely ESL teacher isn't going to change that.

Having read this, I wonder for how many TEFL jobs in China it is true. Do you guys feel it reflects the reality of your job/position in China?

I think it hits the nail on the head for a lot of points, especially the foreign English teacher being a token gesture in a lot of places, very little interaction with local teachers, and questionable colleagues.
