I've received a job offer with the Oxford Partnership in teaching in the Northern part of Saudi. It will be at a vocational college in either Sakaka, Arar or Quarayyat. Could anyone tell me anything about working for them or living in that area? I haven't been able to find anything online. TIA. |

These three places are remote small towns. Have you lived outside your home country before ? Can you handle isolation ? Functional Arabic would help - as would an ability to get on with people from VERY different backgrounds to your own.

Do not be fooled by the population figure into thinking this is a big town !
The same source will give you info on Qurayat and Sakaka.
My advice is forget it - go and do the Peace Corps instead. |

Arar and Sakaka are very remote towns. Nothing happening. Quite conservative as well (Riyadh and the north are the most conservative parts of the country). You could do a year there and make some money but any longer and you would go mad. The larger cities would be better especially for women. |
