I had a friend mention to me some time ago about ghost ads. I asked why this was being done and she said that recruiters gather people's details for when they have genuine vacancies. She also mentioned a database but I didn't think much about this at the time. But now it's come up again it really does seem to be the case. It could explain the sketchiness with some job ads and people, including myself, being contacted by never heard of recruiters as well.
To the point about being blacklisted by recruiters I would say that it could be so but it seems unavoidable with the really persistent ones. The database seems troubling if not slightly sinister because it seems to be that people's info is being shared around without their permission and then targeted with ghost ads and genuine ones when they come up. It must be something like spam mail where companies pay another company for their email list and then send unwanted emails selling products, only in this case recruiters are paying other recruiters for contact details on their database. |

Proof positive the recruiters all know one another and pass our names and resumes around.
Desert Recruiting contacted me for a job and I never applied. They did say they got my contact info from their database. |
It raises the question of how your contact details got on their database in the first place! Or whether your details came from another recruiter's database! |

I'm glad we broke the story so to speak.
I think it's time for a new thread because this one doesn't convey our new info or get other's input about what they also know. |
