Sounds like the beer over there can really put on the weight!
Oh well, I guess I am going to have to limit myself. |

The thing is, chinese beer is both cheap and piss-weak, around 2.8% for the local Singo bottles, about 4% if you get the cans (which aren't always convenient as they aren't cold)
So you can always afford to have beers in your fridge yet at the same time you need to drink more than one to get an effect... |

Hiya Im a 26 year old female and I DEFINITELY gained weight when I got here. At the beginning it's all very strange and you tend to eat a lot of the familiar stuff (pizza etc) whenever you come across it. In the UK where I'm from you can buy diet/low fat EVERYTHING but none of that is in Japan, you can find skimmed milk and diet coke if you're lucky but that's it. I am constantly baffled by how thin the Japanese are, given they eat so much rice and fried stuff, both of which is bad news where we're from.
It's not all doom and gloom however after joining the gym and kick starting my diet again but doing atkins for a month I lost it again. Good luck. |

It baffles me in China too. I think the Chinese have very different constitutions to us. Mrs Dog eats just about the same amount as me, NEVER exercises (whereas I go out for jogs sometimes, and probably walk more han she does) and is tiny AND really really thin. Whereas I am 6 ft 3 and about 15.5 stone (up from about 14.5 when I came over here). she claims its just the beer. I can't believe it would make that much difference. I've almost totally given up junky food like crisps, chips, etc since I came here, all I've eaten is the food that the Chinese stay ultra-thin on, like rice, veg and meat. Although the dumplings probably don't help. |
