Dear Carnac Dear Veiled:

Hello and gracious greetings!! This is all very interesting. Veiled already knows me. I am currently doing a Masters at AUC CAiro in TESOL. Lot of experience in the Gulf. Taught in Oman for two years 2015-2017 [April]. Might be interested in teaching for military in Oman in the future OR the New College of Military Technology. Is the salary really 1900 per month? Old Arab hand [now] Have taught in Saudi, Kuwait and Libya. As stated now in Egypt, doing a Masters. Will be in Oman in mid December. Would enjoy meeting you then if you are around Carnac.

I had an interview with RAFO last week in London. Does anyone know approximately how long the security check takes? I had to complete a lot of documents and forms and it took over 2 hours!!! I do understand for some it has taken over 6 months!

Also the medical has to be done in London and gets reimbursed, you can only do that once you have been given clearance to proceed with the application after the initial interview.

I would guess that length of time to do depends on your individual history... and how easy or difficult it is for them to get the questions answered that they need. Very unpredictable business...

Thanks VS yes as you said it depends on each individual and of course RAFO and how quick they want you!

Anyone know why the salary with RAFO is less than MTC. I understand MTC pay 1900 OMR and RAFO starting salary at grade 5 is 1200OMR.

MTC salaries have been reduced.

The salary depends on the military grade awarded to the teacher.

I was told by my employer (a university) that I should expect security clearance to take 2-3 months. Mine took 7 weeks over the course of June and July this year.
