I need to get letters showing that I have experience teaching in China. Can someone send me a template (draft, etc) showing what should be included in it, how it should be worded? It would be helpful if you have both English and Chinese.

TIA

I have recently had to provide these. Cannot post the example I received from the hiring university because it may identify me. If you pm your email address I can forward the example on to you. The letters I had to provide were fairly basic really (less words than in this post).

However, if I was in your position I would ask the future employer for an example as details may differ. What will most certainly not change is the job title. Even if you had a fancy title you want the letter to just say ‘English Teacher’ and not Tutor, Lecturer, Instructor, or in your case Voyeur 🙂

How do these letters differ from release/recommendation letters?

Yeah not by much really. Only language and function rather than form.

Here’s an example.

Statement of Service for (insert name and centered heading)

To whomsoever it may concern,

This is to certify that (insert name) was employed as an English Teacher at (insert institution), (city), (country) between (date) and (date). We wish (him/her) all the best in (his/her) future endeavours.

Sincerely,

Remember to make sure it’s on letter-headed paper and has issuing person and institution’s contact information. If it is from another country, English will do but if from China I think Chinese or English will be fine.

It seems the difference is no need for a stamp/chop.

Unless the experience was gained in China.
