| There's a huge number of unemployed Iraqi bilingual ESL teachers in Baghdad who are perfectly capable of teaching English at any level. No need for parachutists. |

| I suspect some of the 50 ESL teachers required would need to be "parachutists". $3500 would not be dished out to locals, even bilinguals (unless they have dual nationality). |

There may be some (useful) contextual information as the president of AUIB in Baghdad is likely to be Dr Michael Mulnix who was previously a president of AUIS.

Not so. Mulnix has never been president of AUIS. (However, his wife served as the university's interim president from 2014-2016.) Mulnix is currently indicated as the president of the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) in Duhok, Kurdistan, which opened only four years ago. See http://auk.edu.krd/about/greeting-from-the-president/. It's unclear if he's temporarily overseeing academics at AUIB.
Regardless, those opinion pieces on AUIS were written about someone else and alleged incidents eight or so years ago. Different private university, different players, different time period. |

Applied for it on Feb 27th and haven't heard anything yet. They said they'd get back to applicants within 14 days. Wondering if anyone else has heard back from AUIB? |

The ad clearly states: "If we do not respond to you within 2 weeks of date of your application, it means that you have not been shortlisted." Give it another week. |

Yeah, I get that. Was just eager to hear from anyone who's applied and received a response. I guess the position must have received quite a bit of interest. Wait and see. |
