Hello everyone. Has anyone had any experience with "English Today Recruitment" for teaching positions in Saudi Arabia?
I'm about to have an interview with a HR rep, but just now I found a blog discussing ETA and the most positive review of it turned out to be a fake account according to the moderator, and the moderator said that the person who posted the review was working for ETA. Very disturbing.
I've honestly become very frustrated with the process of trying to find a trustworthy English teaching job in Saudi Arabia. I've already turned down 2 job offers out of lack of trust.
My qualifications are a MA in TESOL with 2 yrs experience as a graduate teaching assistant(college freshman composition) and 2 yrs experience teaching in a Korean elementary public school. (EPIK). If anyone has any advice for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you. |

It would have been more useful if you had explained WHY you "lost trust" in the 2 offers you turned down. It would've given your adviser (me) a better indication of how you're approaching your search for a job in KSA thereby rendering my "advice" more apposite to your situation. ("apposite", not "opposite").
If, for example, you "lost trust" because your emails were not being answered in what you believed was a timely manner by your potential employer, (a very common complaint by job applicants), ....guess what.......NO potential employer is going to respond to you in a timely manner....this is par for the course. It's the "usual and customary" way business is conducted in KSA. Get used to it.
With the meagre information you present, I can only say that your best bet is to apply only to large, well-known employers......those that have been around for years. I'm thinking mostly of universities.....and the military gigs.
For example, I've never heard of "English Today Recruitment" and I've been around for decades. It's obviously a fly-by-night operation just from the name itself. I wonder what made you decide to apply to them (again, you give no information about this very important point from an adviser's point of view).
Finally, you've got to understand that you're a "Johnny come lately" into the ESL game in KSA. As has been pointed out now innumerable times for at least a year, the days of the "big bucks" - the glory days - of working in KSA are pretty much over. Salaries are average in general while living in KSA remains a challenge if not a hardship. Your expectations really have to get aligned with this new reality. Good luck.

Per your other thread, Berlitz was one of those offers.
Despite your elementary school teaching experience, you have an MA TESOL. Look into direct-hire opportunities like KFUPM, University of Jeddah, IPA, etc. You can get a list of universities and colleges from Wikipedia. Check their individual websites to see who is hiring for the 2018-19 academic year. |

English Today Recruitment seem legitimate. They have their own website http://englishrecruitment.com/v3/ plus they are EFL teacher employment specialists for KSA. I have been also liaising with them so far so good. What happened during the interview or after did you get a job? |
